Writing is a very personal and somewhat mysterious process, and each person who engages in it deserves something that carefully addresses his or her own wants and needs. I work with any age, level of experience, or genre. at any length, from an article or blog post to a non-fiction book or a novel. I offer a full range of editorial services, including:
1. Comprehensive manuscript edit (Detailed). I’ll read your manuscript and reply with extensive marginal notes describing what I think is perfect, what I think needs work, and what you might consider cutting or reorganizing. This entails some copyediting as well.
2. Manuscript review and evaluation. (Overview letter) The same as above, but less detailed. My response will be in the form of a long letter, rather than detailed, page-by-page remarks.
3. Copyediting & Proofreading. Line-level attention to grammar, syntax, clarity, awkward phrasing, and typos—without flattening voice or style.
4. Targeted Reading. If you’re looking for feedback on something specific—character, plot, pacing, tone, or a particular section of the work—I can tailor the read to your needs.
As for cost: I’m using the Editorial Freelancers Association’s fees schedule as a jumping off point (you can find them here: https://www.the-efa.org/rates/), but much depends on what we decide, together, is best for you.
It all starts with an email, so please feel free to introduce yourself, and we can chat a bit about what you’re looking for. Then, if you think I can help, we’ll begin with a ten-page sample, so you can get a sense of how I work. If it doesn’t suit you, you’re free to decline my services, at no charge.
